May the 4th Be With Your Tape Deck: Tape Lab Releases J Is for Judgment
Star Wars Day 2026 has arrived, and Tape Lab is marking May the 4th in the only way that really makes sense: with a new 3-track EP about falling to the dark side, made with tape, chaos, nostalgia, and a possibly unhealthy attachment to old Star Wars audio.
DUBPLATE DELI VOL. 1 is Out Now
DUBPLATE DELI VOL. 1 is a new 2-track EP from Tape Lab, built around heavy dubstep pressure, loose grooves, and a dumb-but-committed deli motif. Think old dubplate culture: tracks made quickly, cut with intent, and ready to be passed around before the weekend’s raves. Fast food for sound systems, basically.

DURTY BOUNCE Video Out Now
We just dropped a short for an unreleased track called DURTY BOUNCE—a crusty little number built live on a Kaossilator, laced with harmonies from the Omnichord. No edits, no overdubs. Just raw bounce, straight to tape.
The MEGARCHIVE Has Reached Critical Mass
After years of unchecked growth and unregulated chaos, the Tape Lab MEGARCHIVE has finally hit full saturation. That’s 500 tracks deep—no more, no less. We’ve officially capped the playlist. It’s not dead, but it’s done growing.
COUNTERESPONSIVE STEMS Challenge
We're dropping an instrumental demo of Counterattack / Counterresponsive, one of our favorite chaos agents from the Tape Lab catalog.

Deep Dive: Wire USB Alone? (EP, 2019)
Now THAT is some hyper-cerebrial album naming! So many puns so much to think about. Y R U B? Tangled wires, cables and bad quality air anyway that influences the limbs and finger tips.
New from Tape Lab & Brillman
After a rather long winter break Tape Lab & Brillman are back on track!
The creative juices from New York and “outside Oslo” are once again flowing:) The process of choosing between many different songs/jams/tracks/ideas can be a slow, laborious task but someone’s gotta do it! Through weeks/even months of trial & error serendipity (once again) saved the day. A guitar take by Brillman from 2008 was forged with that fine Tape Lab release called “Hyper Cerebral” to make a happy jazz-house mix (128 bpm) that is 12:45 minutes long:) Nuff said; enjoy!
MIXTAPE: Disco Downtempo
Disco Downtempo Mixtape, circa 2022, mixed on tape by 2yng2smpl
New Release: Juxtaposeur
New album from Tape Lab originally recorded in 2024 and just retroactively released on all streaming platforms - JUXTAPOSEUR. The album title is a play on words between juxtaposition (smashing two sounds together) and “poseur” (using presets). Anyway, enjoy!
