The Tape Store Return Policy

Returns & Refunds

Tape Lab wants you to be happy with what you ordered from The Tape Store. We accept returns on most physical products, with the exception of commissioned artwork and custom-made pieces.

If your item arrives defective, damaged, or incorrect, we will issue a full refund or replacement — no questions asked. Send us your order number and a photo of the issue, and we’ll make it right.

If you simply don’t like the item, that’s okay too. Let us know why, and we’ll refund your purchase once the item is returned in its original condition. Items must be unused, undamaged, and returned with any original packaging, inserts, or included materials when applicable.

Contact The Tape Store

To start a return or ask a question about an order, contact Tape Lab support with your order number and reason for return.

How to Start a Return

To initiate a return, contact Tape Lab support with:

  • Your order number

  • The item you would like to return

  • The reason for return

  • Photos, if the item arrived damaged or defective

Once we receive your request, we’ll provide return instructions.

Refunds

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method. Please allow time for the refund to process, depending on your payment provider.

Original shipping costs may not be refundable unless the return is due to a defective, damaged, or incorrect item.

Exchanges

When available, we may offer an exchange or replacement instead of a refund. Because many Tape Lab products are limited-run, handmade, one-off, or small-batch, exact replacements may not always be possible.

Items Eligible for Return

Most physical products sold through The Tape Store may be returned, including tapes, apparel, printed goods, merch, accessories, and other ready-made items.

Items NOT Eligible for Return

Commissioned art, custom-made items, personalized products, and one-of-one pieces created specifically for a customer are final sale unless they arrive damaged or defective.

Damaged or Defective Items

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or not as described, contact us as soon as possible with your order number and a brief description of the issue. Photos are helpful. Once reviewed, we will offer a refund, replacement, or other reasonable resolution.

Return shipping costs will not apply for defective, damaged, or incorrect items.

Changed Your Mind?

If the item arrived as expected but you no longer want it, contact us with your order number and reason for return. Once the item is returned and inspected in its original condition, we will issue a refund for the purchase price.

Return shipping costs may apply unless the product is defective, damaged, or incorrect.

A Note on Handmade & Analog Goods

Some Tape Lab products are intentionally handmade, analog, limited-run, or irregular by design. Small variations in printing, packaging, duplication, color, texture, or finish are part of the nature of these objects and are not always considered defects. That said, if something arrives truly damaged or unusable, we’ll take care of it.

About The Tape Store

The Tape Store is the official shop from Tape Lab, founded in 2024 as a home for tape culture, underground music, analog media, and original Tape Lab goods. With more than 100 products and counting, The Tape Store brings together limited-edition merchandise, custom tape-inspired items, apparel, art, accessories, and lifestyle products designed for people who still believe physical media matters.

Tape Lab has always been built around the idea that music should feel tangible. Cassettes, VHS textures, printed artwork, handmade objects, and collectible releases are not just nostalgic artifacts — they are part of a living creative culture. The Tape Store extends that world into a curated shop for fans, collectors, musicians, artists, and anyone who prefers their media with a little weight, texture, and intention.

We are genuinely excited about this shop. Every product is selected with care, and we only work with high-quality brands and trusted production partners. Whether it is apparel, printed goods, accessories, home items, or limited Tape Lab releases, our goal is to make products that feel good, last, and represent the Tape Lab universe with the right level of weird, useful, and collectible.

The Tape Store is more than merch. It is an extension of Tape Lab’s music, video experiments, cassette guides, VHS streams, and ongoing commitment to analog creativity in a digital world. Built for tape heads, underground music fans, collectors, and curious newcomers, The Tape Store is where Tape Lab’s world becomes something you can hold, wear, play, gift, or display.
