The Tape Store:
Business Transparency & Customer Information
The Tape Store is the official online shop of Tape Lab, an independent music, media, and cassette culture project based in East Hampton, New York, and Durham, North Carolina. Through The Tape Store, we offer original Tape Lab merchandise, physical media, art, limited-edition goods, custom creative projects, and analog-inspired products made for fans of underground music, cassette culture, outsider art, and independent media.
Our goal is simple: make creative, high-quality, original goods that feel personal, collectible, and fun to own.
Who We Are - The Tape Store
Tape Lab is an independent creative project, record label, art platform, and digital media archive. The Tape Store serves as the retail side of that world, offering customers access to physical products, exclusive merch, artwork, music-related goods, and limited-run releases tied to the Tape Lab catalog.
We are not a mass-market retailer. Many of our products are small-batch, seasonal, experimental, or made in limited quantities. Some items are produced directly by Tape Lab, while others may be created through trusted production partners, print providers, or collaborators.
How The Tape Store Works
Because many Tape Lab items are limited-run or custom-made, availability may change often. We do our best to keep product descriptions, pricing, images, and availability accurate, but certain items may sell out, be retired, or return in updated versions. The Tape Store sells a mix of original products, including:
Tape Lab merchandise
Apparel and accessories
Physical music releases
Art prints and visual media
Custom mixtapes and commissioned creative work
Limited-edition goods
Digital and analog-inspired creative products
Product Quality & Accuracy
We care about the quality, presentation, and originality of every product sold through The Tape Store. Product photos and descriptions are intended to give customers a clear understanding of what they are purchasing. Some handmade, custom, vintage-inspired, analog, or small-batch products may include slight variations, which are part of their character.
If something arrives damaged, defective, or meaningfully different from what was described, we want to make it right.
Returns, Refunds & Damaged Items
We accept returns on most physical products sold through The Tape Store, except for commissioned artwork, custom projects, and certain made-to-order items.
If an item arrives defective or damaged, contact us with your order number and photos of the issue. We will review the order and, when appropriate, offer a replacement, refund, or other resolution.
If you simply do not like an item, contact us and let us know why. In many cases, we can issue a refund once the item is returned in its original condition. Return shipping costs may apply unless the product is defective or damaged.
Custom & Commissioned Work
Custom projects, commissioned artwork, personalized products, and made-to-order creative work may not be eligible for standard returns once production has begun. These projects often involve time, materials, concept development, and original creative labor.
Before placing a custom order, customers are encouraged to ask questions so expectations are clear.

About The Tape Store
The Tape Store is the official shop from Tape Lab, founded in 2024 as a home for tape culture, underground music, analog media, and original Tape Lab goods. With more than 100 products and counting, The Tape Store brings together limited-edition merchandise, custom tape-inspired items, apparel, art, accessories, and lifestyle products designed for people who still believe physical media matters.
Tape Lab has always been built around the idea that music should feel tangible. Cassettes, VHS textures, printed artwork, handmade objects, and collectible releases are not just nostalgic artifacts — they are part of a living creative culture. The Tape Store extends that world into a curated shop for fans, collectors, musicians, artists, and anyone who prefers their media with a little weight, texture, and intention.
We are genuinely excited about this shop. Every product is selected with care, and we only work with high-quality brands and trusted production partners. Whether it is apparel, printed goods, accessories, home items, or limited Tape Lab releases, our goal is to make products that feel good, last, and represent the Tape Lab universe with the right level of weird, useful, and collectible.
The Tape Store is more than merch. It is an extension of Tape Lab’s music, video experiments, cassette guides, VHS streams, and ongoing commitment to analog creativity in a digital world. Built for tape heads, underground music fans, collectors, and curious newcomers, The Tape Store is where Tape Lab’s world becomes something you can hold, wear, play, gift, or display.
