Tape Lab Is Now Smart Speaker Friendly

Good news for anyone who enjoys music but hates typing: Tape Lab is now easy to find on your smart speaker.

Just say:

“Alexa, play Tape Lab.”

Or ask whatever smart speaker you’ve invited into your home to do the same. There are hours of Tape Lab music out there now, ready to play however you listen: cooking, driving, cleaning, ignoring your responsibilities, staring at a wall, whatever your preferred listening ceremony may be.

This is a small victory, but honestly, we’ll take it.

For a while, asking a smart speaker to play Tape Lab was a roll of the dice. Sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn’t. Sometimes Alexa would hit you with the classic: “Hmmmm, I’m not sure I know what you’re looking for.” Which is a polite way of saying, “Your band does not exist in the machine.”

We’ve annoyed the machine into recognition!

We’ve done the hard work of consistently making new music, releasing it, and keeping the signal alive long enough that Alexa now knows who we are. That’s not nothing. In the endless swamp of streaming platforms, algorithms, playlist debris, fake artists, and background music engineered for dental offices, Tape Lab is now findable by voice command.

For example, you could listen to the new Tape Lab album, “Used 2B Used” (Out Now everywhere!)

So next time you want to hear Tape Lab, Just say:

“Alexa, play Tape Lab.” (or, click to listen to Tape Lab Amazon Music.)

There’s plenty waiting for you.

Hours of music. New sounds. Old noise. Strange little experiments. Songs that should probably not be allowed near a smart speaker, now available on one anyway.

The future is weird. At least it has Tape Lab in it now.

TapeLab

Welcome to #TapeLab—stay a while and listen. Founded in 2017 by lifelong friends, Tape Lab is a collective of artists and a hub for innovation, always open to collaboration. With the zeal of a self-published memoir, our sound is our own, but you can be the decider. We make music and art that sounds like it was fun to make and stands out in a sea of bland beats.

As independent artists, we are always exploring new ways to expand our audience and find new creative outlets—especially with other undiscovered artists!

#TapeLab is currently based out of two headquarters in Durham, NC, and The Hamptons, NY.
