Snuggler’s Run

Snuggler’s Run is a 2020 entry from Tape Lab’s PlayStationary Series, built around the cozy absurdity of being absolutely, unapologetically snugged up. Inspired by Smuggler’s Run II: Hostile Territory, the release taps into that golden-era PlayStation 2 energy: dusty digital terrain, open-world vehicle chaos, and video game music that somehow sounds better the longer it loops.

Tape Lab clearly had to get its hands on that open pause music — the kind of ambient menu-screen magic you could leave running for hours and call it a full listening session. Add in the tasteful use of Chapter 4 from Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, and Snuggler’s Run becomes something stranger and more specific: part video game homage, part literary sample experiment, part live electronic oddity. It is snug, smug, dusty, weird, and very much a Tape Lab transmission from the PlayStation-era subconscious.
