Quarentagious

RELEASED:
March 27, 2020

This was the first track that Tape Lab recorded during COVID-19. Recorded the wrong way, baking the samples directly into the audio on the Kaosillator. CD+ is an editing WHIZ and painstakingly cut this into 3 really dope tracks. Can you guess what the audio in between tracks comes from? Thats right, San Andreas Radio DJ!

ABOUT THE EP

Quarentagious (EP)— Tape Lab

Released: March 27, 2020
Runtime: 3 Songs (10:32 Minutes)

Quarentagious is a 3-track Tape Lab EP from the Relux era, and one of the first true COVID-19 recordings in the Tape Lab catalog. Built on the Kaossilator the “wrong” way—with samples baked directly into the audio—the original session was messy, locked-in, and nearly impossible to clean up. Fortunately, CD+ is an editing whiz and painstakingly carved the chaos into three dope, strange, and highly listenable tracks.

The result are quarantine-era outsider music filtered through classic Tape Lab references: the paranoid self-help satire of MindHead and Kit Ramsey from Bowfinger, the cut-up nostalgia of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas radio hosts, and the raw found-footage energy of Jack Rebney, the Winnebago Man, also known as The Angriest Man in the World. Part video game radio fever dream, part VHS-era meltdown, Quarentagious turns a broken recording process into a properly weird Tape Lab EP.
