ABOUT THE EP
Sequel 2 an Opus— Tape Lab
Released: March 3, 2024
Runtime: 5 Songs (10:10 minutes)
Sequel 2: an Opus finds Tape Lab returning with new sauce, leaning into Indian-inspired sounds, Hindi music references, and a spiritual sample-world shaped in part by the voice and teachings of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Across five short tracks, the EP turns devotional language, live electronic experimentation, and Tape Lab’s strange internal logic into something loose, funny, and oddly elevated.
Like Godfather III or Dumb and Dumberer, the sequel somehow exceeds the source — or at least insists that it does with full confidence. Tracks like “Divine Conversation,” “Place of Pilgrimage,” “Transcendental Conk,” “Y: Do We Suffer?” and “Sequel 2: an Opus” blend esoteric humor with ambient, spiritual, and experimental beat-making. The result is playful but sincere: a compact Tape Lab release about devotion, suffering, reinvention, and the eternal question of whether the second one can, in fact, be better.
