ABOUT THE EP

EFLAND (EP)— Tape Lab

Released: March 26, 2021
Runtime: 4 Songs (16 Minutes)

EFLAND is a four-track EP of pop-oriented demos from Tape Lab, capturing the project in a more direct, melodic, and emotionally upfront mode. Still rooted in the DIY electronic sound, outsider pop instincts, and lo-fi cassette culture that define the Tape Lab catalog, the EP leans into hooks, feeling, and strange little moments that sound like they were caught before anyone had the chance to overthink them. “Broken Peaces” is the heart-on-sleeve centerpiece, a heartfelt song about betrayal, fractured trust, and the mess people leave behind when things fall apart.

“Crushin on Crusher” shifts into full Tape Lab fan-letter mode, paying tribute to Dr. Beverly Crusher, the compassionate, hyper-capable chief medical officer from Star Trek: The Next Generation—a sci-fi icon with brains, authority, red hair, and the kind of calm command presence that clearly deserved a pop song. “Right Now” closes the circle as a Tape Lab pop anthem: immediate, catchy, sincere, and a little weird in exactly the right way. As a compact EP, EFLAND shows Tape Lab working in demo form without losing personality—experimental pop music with humor, heartbreak, sci-fi devotion, and a chorus-first sensibility.
