ABOUT ARTSCAM ANNEX
ARTSCAM ANNEX is Tape Lab’s self-published AI commentary art book, released in late winter 2024 and built through hundreds of human work hours and countless AI-generated iterations. Conceived as one of the earliest rich-text art books to use AI to critique AI, it explores authorship, originality, synthetic media, visual culture, and the unsettling aesthetics of life in an algorithmic age.
Dense, saturated, and deliberately disorienting, the book asks the questions not enough people were asking in 2024: What happens when images stop proving anything? What happens when art can be produced without a stable artist? What gets lost when originality is flattened into content?
Part experimental art object, part cultural criticism, part human-machine collaboration, ARTSCAM ANNEX examines AI art, digital collage, slopification, and the creeping banality of automated culture. While AI played a central role in generating the material, the book was shaped through intense human editing, compiling, rewriting, and visual direction. That tension is the point.
This is not passive prompt output. It is an artist-led confrontation with the very systems threatening to dilute artistic identity. The result is a bold and timely contemporary art book that continues to attract attention for its concept, design, and unsettling relevance.
