That file's not corrupted. The data is CURSED! Recored mostly by 2yng2smpl (can't you tell??) during the pandemic. People will say I went crazy but I was always crazy.

ABOUT THE ALBUM

Data Cursor (Album)— Tape Lab

Released September 10, 2021

Data Cursor is a fast-paced electronic music album from Tape Lab, wired directly into video game logic, late-night screen glow, and whatever corner of the brain keeps quoting Neil Breen like that explains anything.

The record pulls heavy influence from game soundtracks and survival horror texture, including samples from Resident Evil 4, giving the whole thing a tense, digital, slightly unwell atmosphere. Not “retro gaming aesthetic” in the cheap way. More like someone left the console running too long and the machine started producing club tracks.

There is a cleaner Ableton edge here — tighter arrangements, sharper production, less mud on the floor — but the beats are still unmistakably 2yng2smpl: esoteric, twitchy, rhythm-forward, and allergic to doing the obvious thing for too long. It moves fast, cuts weird, and keeps the grooves just crooked enough to stay interesting.

Data Cursor is Tape Lab in digital paranoia mode: part game menu, part basement rave, part corrupted save file, with enough low-end movement to keep it from becoming pure nerd debris.

Fast, strange, electronic.
