ABOUT THE EP

Droidian Slippers (EP)— Tape Lab

Released: November 1, 2019
Runtime: 6 Songs (12:20 minutes)

Droidian Slippers is a philosophical, sci-fi-minded Tape Lab album about android culture, artificial intelligence, synthetic life, and the strange emotional territory between humans and the machines we create. The title plays with a simple absurdity: an android would never need slippers to warm its feet. But that raises the better question—what does an android need? Love, beauty, compassion, purpose, culture? Across tracks like “Andy’s Been Protesting,” “Rummaged Among The Contents,” “Dave’s Test,” “Pander To Everybody,” and “Outromental,” the album imagines the rise of Droidian culture as something more than programming. It is a birth, a protest, a myth, and a mirror held up to humanity.

From the pain of entering the physical world to the economic rituals that force both humans and synthetic beings to perform for survival, Droidian Slippers explores artificial intelligence not as a novelty, but as a reflection of human culture, human cruelty, and human longing. Like the best underground electronic music, it is strange, emotional, and searching—an experimental sci-fi album about androids, AI, mythmaking, and the uneasy future we are already living inside.
