Organic Sells

Organic Sells finds Tape Lab leaning into a more experimental, sample-driven sound, moving freely through house, bass, dubstep, collage, humor, and mythology. The album opens with “preLapse,” an homage to Tape Lab’s classic 2021 release preLease, setting the tone with a wink toward the past before pushing into stranger territory.

The title track, “Organic Sells,” is a seven-minute exploration of mythology, built around samples from Joseph Campbell and shaped into something loose, strange, and immersive. Across the album, Tape Lab takes sporadic dips into different genres without staying in one lane for too long. “Far Away People” arrives as a rediscovered classic pulled from the file browser, while “Freakingdum” pokes fun at heady hippie culture with a sense of humor that is very much on-brand. “Sister Stories” brings a more grounded and educational element, carrying a strong message about sisterhood and the importance of women supporting one another.

Experimental without losing its sense of play, Organic Sells feels like a Tape Lab field recording from several alternate timelines at once: funny, sincere, odd, dance-adjacent, and fully committed to the bit.
