ABOUT THE ALBUM
HYPHEN-8 — Tape Lab
Released October 7, 2025
HYPHEN-8 is an analog heart beating through a digital cortex. On this record we push new computer techniques into the warmth and grit of tape, keeping the hiss, bleed, and human timing that make music feel alive. Each track title carries a hyphen, a small rhythmic pause that mirrors the album’s motion: mechanical precision held in the breath of analogue life.
Standout single Zanark-8 is a direct, joyful nod to Final Fantasy X—an anthem that borrows the drama of game-world mythos and translates it into sunlit synth lines, swelling brass, and a chorus of layered tape-saturated vocals. It’s part tribute, part reinvention: the emotional peaks are intact, reimagined through our studio’s hybrid workflow.
E-Z-BR-Z receives a re-release here, updated with fresh processing and a warmer tape mix that keeps the original’s glitchy spirit while smoothing edges into something fuller and more tactile. Other cuts explore the same balance: algorithmic sequencing behind lived-in drum takes, granular resynthesis married to vintage keys, and modular synthesis routed through reel-to-reel for unexpected harmonics.
HYPHEN-8 is for listeners who love the tactile imperfections of tape and the possibilities of modern sound design. It’s fearless and playful, technical and human—music that sounds like it was fun to make.
